Has anyone been able to get a Tape Drive that is attached to a floppy drive cable to run on an ABIT BH6 motherboard. I have 2 hard drives, 2 cd roms, and one floppy A: attached, but the Colorado T-3000 backup tape unit cannot be detected by windows 98, as a new device. It worked on my last motherboard, a Supermicro, with the same equipment...
The error message when installing Colorado Backup II, is that no IDE port is available, they are all in use. But the Tape runs from the FLOPPY controller, Help...

I wouldn't have thought that the specific motherboard should make any difference.
I can only speak from my recent experience of installing an old Seagate/Conner 800 Travan drive with a floppy interface in my own PC. In my own case, I simply connected the drive to the floppy cable, turned on the PC and Windows98 immediately and correctly identified the new device. The instructions did say to do the following:
1) Choose the drive jumper setting. On the factory default of 'soft select', most systems should recognise the drive regardless of its position on the floppy chain.
2) Do not enable Floppy B in the BIOS.
Are you absolutely sure that the cable connector is firmly attached to the drive and that the colored edge stripe is alligned with pin 1?
Also, is the power cable firmly inserted. (Presumably, with so many other devices in your system, you had to use a splitter. Make sure that all connections are secure.)
Personally, I wouldn't even try to install the Colorado software until after the drive has been detected as a new device by Windows.
