After installing Thrustmaster Nascar Pro Steering Wheel, I tried to calibrate it, only
to have the computer lock up on me. This was
followed by trying to calibrate a joystick,
only to get the message that the computer
did not recognize that any joystick port exists. Previous Sound Card is an on board installation requiring that is be disabled.

You neglected to mention a great deal of pertinent information, like OS, details of previous card, drivers installed etc.

In Windows systems, you can delete the sound card altogether and let Windows find the "new" hardware upon rebooting and installing the drivers. Also, in control panel, there is a game controllers icon. Open that pig up and you can install the joystick/wheel from there.

Some games don't use Windows settings for sticks (most do these days but not all) so you may need to use analog settings instead of digital in the stick/wheel.

Double check and see if Thrustmaster has software updates available as well.

Sounds like you may be experiencing a MB resource problem. What kind of mb do you have and what chipset does it use?

Just to let you know, my buddy traded an old AX5T to another buddy for a 1M L2 cache top gun pos mb, because he couldn't get any joystick to work on it and then a PCI TNT wouldn't install on it. We used it for a server, but couldn't get any PCI devices to work, so the 100M/s segment was off line wiht no PCI nic operating.

I trashed it this weekend because it quit running one of the other nics and started locking up, so I say I hope you have a decent mb, or your problem wont go away!
