Thats what I read anyway. Obviously they're still producing both. What I do know is that all of the retail CPU's i've gotten have been green. While my OEM purchases have varied, sometimes green, sometimes brown. I thought ALL the CPUs came out of the Dresden fab. I guess they might be assembled onto the substrates elsewhere though. fishybawb 07-30-2004, 06:38 AM It's a conspiracy to keep message boards clogged up with people asking what the difference is. sm8000 07-30-2004, 11:07 AM I thought there were fabs in Dresden, Ohio, Austin, and Malaysia (Singapore?).... dougander3 08-02-2004, 01:39 PM Here are the colors... http://www.msi.com.tw/program/products/mainboard/mbd/pro_mbd_cpu_support_detail.php?UID=amdcpu sm8000 08-02-2004, 02:00 PM Not quite the answer. There are brown Bartons and green ones, for example. Imperion1 08-02-2004, 09:29 PM This question came up well over a year ago. And the color is not Barton specific. Its with all the AMD cpu's. I have 2 Barton 2500+, one is green (Assembled in Malaysia) and the other is brown (don't know where its from, its in the computer I'm using right now). SysOpt.com
