Hello. I can not seem to get windows xp to let me use the network adapotor integrated on my abit nf7. I would like to share files between this computer and my laptop. I looked in the device manager and i got an error 10 for the nvidia mcp networking controller. I am assuming this is for the network port. The error says this device can not be started. What is also weird is that network connections doesn't have a section on this computer for lan or high speed internet. Anyhelp on how to install this would be appreciated.

did you install the chipset drivers?
I say drivers, newer ones maybe :t
You got no "lan or high speed internet" coz you have no NIC installed ;)

The network connections i am referring to is the one where you go to start then settings then network connections. My laptop shows a section with connections for all lan adaptors and then there is a seperate one for the dial up connections. I have a nic installed. It comes standard on the nf7 mobo built in.

Are you trying to just hook your laptop directly to your desktop with an ethernet cable? If so, you need to use a crossover cable.

nope with a hub. The problem is that i cant even get the computer to accept the integrated network adaptor on the nf7. The laptop plugs into the netgear hub just fine.

did you use the latest forceware drivers from the nvidia website?
is this a fresh install of windows or an old one? you might need to do a repair install if it is old.

No i haven't tried the latest forceware drivers. It is a relatively new install of windows. I think i might try the repair install.
