Since I am still an underpaid computer guru, I drive a 1977 Chevy LUV pickup. It is cheap on gas, and I can tear it apart and put it back together blindfolded. It does have a mild performance cam in it for a little more get up and go from the line, but is otherwise stock. I also have a 1979 4x4 LUV with 3" suspension lift, 2" body lift, a chrome brush guard, chrome sunvisor, and a broken clutch. /forum/wink.gif In a week I get to put that back together again. What good is a car/truck if you don't take it apart every so often?

Well my "road warrior" is a 84 chevy fullsize blazer with a 6" lift and 35" BFG's and my "commuter" is a 92 Infiniti G20. but I started out in cars with a 72 pontiac firebird (formula) then a 79 Z28 that I prostreeted (tubbed, built 350 with a tunnelram intake 12.35@103 in the 1/4 mile at bonnevielle raceway) this is about 5200ft elevation! then I went thru a couple of bikes and then I got married and had kids and so were down to what I first posted!

ps...I wish I still had the Z28!

1987 Mazda RX-7 Turbo. Bonez clutch and cat system. HKS cat back. RB fuel-cut defensor. Greddy turbo boost control. Tokiko suspension. Quarter mile in the low 13's. Not bad for 78cu.in. No rust or dents but the paint's getting a little thin.

After 4 motorcycles and about 20 cars, I've settled into my 95 Z28. Runs good, sounds good (Omar Bose is a wonderful individual), and the big V-8 still gets the adrenalin going when it's punched.
However, as I approach 40 my eye turns to the Caddy STS- with it's soft ride and 300 horse engine. One of these days...

Wow! what a mixture of cars! I am quite surprised actually that no one drives a honda or acura yet. Huh. An di agree with scott...bimmers are GREAT cars. They scream comfort and class while nto shouting snob like a mercedes does (no offense to merc owners there). I didnt mention my past cars. I started out on an 83 Dodge Ram Van (full size, two tone brown with bronw plaid interior--that was in 92), then moved up to an 87 Civic SI Hatchback (my favorite car, minus the fuel injection problems honda introduced that year with PGMFI), and then i moved to a bike for a few years at college after smacking the honda into a curb at 45 miles per hour. Your T-bird sounds pretty cool.

SoopaStar: I definitely like the Talon/Eclipse. I was thinking about going with a new Eclipse GSX a year or so ago, but decided to hold out for the bimmer.

My last car (which I still have in the garage here and will use more for utility purposes) is a 1990 Nissan 240SX w/ 142k miles. Great car though, never let me down, good power in 1st/2nd/3rd gear, great cornering, etc. If anyone is looking for a used car, I'd highly recommend the 240SX (the older models, don't know about the newer "lexus" looking ones).

I drive at present a Dodge Shadow, because my normal driver, my 11 sec Corvette is in pieces on my garage floor! I was, and to some extent still are into heavy mod's for hot rodding, which should explain teh 11 sec comment.

I almost bought a 95 'vette last week. Still might, but prob not at this stage.

http://home.earthlink.net/~jkleppinger/theRustBucket.jpg

For those who don't know, it's a 92 S-10 with 208k miles and badly needs an oil change, alignment, and break fluid leak fix. I got it in early 96 with 170k miles on it.

I did offer to trade Scott straight up for his new BMW (only after seeing the GPS system tho). For some reason, he didn't go for it. I just don't understand - this is the ultimate car - you can even get keyed or in an accident and it doesn't decrease in value any. /forum/smile.gif

well, in order:
92 murray walmart crapo-bike, which i hated, too heavy, but i nicely mangled it, and myself, head-on with a car, spent 5 weeks in the hospital in traction, SOO pleasant. =)

'94 murray badlands, basically the same as the previous,(rrrrgg) but i wanted the front suspension. was pedaling up a hill one day, and my derailer somehow jumped right into the spokes! took out about five of the spokes, and i wasn't about to spend cash to fix that crappy POS.

so, i bought a '98 specialized hardrock the next week, friend won it in a raffle, so i got it for about 170$ less than it was worth. good deal, but i want my rock shox.

well, FINNALLY, i got a car. '92 ford ranger, straight 4, boy, VROOM VROOM! =) not. consequently, i blew the head gasket about a month later.(i'm a bit hard on cars.)
so, i just bought a '94 dodge dakota, V6, manual 5 speed, metalic green, total chick color. gotta repaint it. but, with 150$ a month payments( my mother is selling it to me,) and 204$ a month insurance, it'll be a while. a LONG while. =) no puter stuff for me for a while either. oh well. at least i got me a decent set of wheels.

wow, i tend to ramble, don't i? =)

Okay, my turn...

1995 Ford Taurus - I would still have it if some fool hadn't run a red light. I totalled both vehicles. Yep, I t-boned someone at 60MPH and survived, so did they. Those seatbelts and airbags saved my life, but they hurt like hell when they go off.

1997 Ford Windstar, yes a minivan. No, I don't have any kids. Got a lot of equipment to haul around though. It's got just under 38,000 miles.

My former employer has a 1991 Ford Aerostar, as of 4 months ago it had 189,000 miles on it! Amazingly enough it's never had any major work on the engine or transmission!

My dad used to have a '67 Mustang. He wishes he hadn't gotten rid of it.

My best friend has a 1989 Olds Cutlas Sierra with ~170,000 miles on it. We don't know for sure how many miles since the odometer cable broke a few months ago! I nicknamed it ****ty-****ty Bang-Bang.

Impressed? If not, ask me again in 30 or 40 years when we're all flying instead of driving.

I own two sixties vintage Beezas -- a '69 250 Starfire (owned for 25 yrs) and a '66 C15 Sportsman.

The BSA B25 "Starfires" only came about in '67. They were all high-compression (10:1) sportsters, badged as "BSA Barracudas" in the UK but "BSA Starfires" everywhere else. And the low-compression delivery-bike models of the same shape and size were called the C25 BSA "Fleetstars" but you'll only find them in the British market.

Change the oil religiously every 3 months and you'll have a brilliant, fast, superbly-handling sports motorcycle. Use really good oil too --- nothing less than Amsoil 20w/50 or Mobil 1 full synthetic. Do NOT use cheap mineral oils, either monograde or multigrade. Nothing less than fully-synthetic oil. Do NOT use Castrol R castor oil either, unless you are only and exclusively racing the beast. Skimp on the oil-changes and you'll have an explosive, hair-tearingly, unreliable nightmare on your hands. Change the oil frequently, fit a Boyer electronic ignition and take the Starfire (or the C15 Sportsman) for a nice long 30 mile gallop on an open road once a week to burn off all the carbon deposits and you'll have a jewel of a machine.

Giddonyer mate for keeping your 650cc A10 BSA Rocket!

Great machine !

An A10 650cc "Rocket Gold Star" is the ne plus ultra ultimate as far as I am concerned! Especially if kitted out with the later 1968 twin-leading-shoe Triumph front brake.

I drive a 1992 Toyota Extended Cab pickup with the 2.4 liter 22RE 4 banger and a junkyard 5-speed. It has an ugly topper that it about a foot taller than the cab of the truck. Since it's a 2wd, it sits very low. It's dwarfed by all the other trucks on the road.

It seems pretty fast (for a toyota truck with 220,000 on the odometer) without the topper, but since it's sorta my dad's truck and sorta my truck, I can't take it off.

BTW, I ride a cheap gary fisher mountain bike.

Wow, Gumby,

Do you still have the Kaw GPZ? I bought an '81 1100 Gpz new, And I still have it. 5000 miles on it and it's still in the garage. Don't hear much about them, but they were the first production fuel injected bike I ever saw/rode. The best I ever did was 143 but that was tach estimated because the speedo only goes to 85 MPH.(some '80's federal req.)
