D:\ or whatever will not be effected john.s 05-24-1999, 12:05 AM When you format the first partition (C) of a physical drive from DOS, does it also wipe out any data on the other partitions of that physical drive? I have a boot disk with CD-ROM support and have used it several times to "start over." Recently I used Partition Magic to convert my "master" drive into 3 partitions (C,E & F). If I have to use the boot disk now and type "FORMAT C:" will I end up losing all the data and programs on drives E & F also? Mntsnow 05-24-1999, 12:18 AM John, No you wont lose the information on the other partitions unless the partition information is corrupted in some way. from the boot disk all you have to do is format c: and only the c drive will be formated (the "C partition that is")...btw I personally now keep everything except for my OS on a different drive (not just a partition on the main drive) as I did lose some information once before due to a bad partition http://www.sysopt.com/forum/frown.gif Good luck Mntsnow http://www.sysopt.com/forum/smile.gif [This message has been edited by Mntsnow (edited 05-23-99).] SysOpt.com
