Old Processor Question

I was just wondering, which is faster: The PII-450 or the K6-2-450?

I have one of each. I am going to give a coputer to a freind for general web surfing / wordprocessing etc.

Just wanted to know which one would be faster. Same hd/memory/etc specs

seriously, you won't feel a difference. if its being used just for office apps and web surfing.

I think, PII has more cache compared to K6-2.

I'd stick to the K6 CPU, provided the motherboard has all the same features as the P3 one. The speed diff will probably not be noticeable though.

Thanks for the reply zybch. It is actually a p2 not a p3 and the motherboard for the k6 is actually better than that of the p2.

I was leaning toward the k6, but just wanted to be sure...

little known fact....windows 98 ONLY uses 128 meg of memory....anything above that just sits there!!!
load the pc's with win 2000 or xp and they will use ALL the memory and you will see a vast performance improvement!!!

Sorry, misread. If its just a P2, then definatley go for the K6.
