I am the administrator of my Windows XP pro desktop. I want to shield some folders from GUEST users. When I right lclick on such a folder and select SHaring and Security, it only alows me to drag it to the Shared DOcuments folder, and the option to "Make this folder private" is grayed out BUT SELECTED. However, if I log in as a GUEST, I still can get to this folder.
I am lost.
Can anyone help?

use ntfs permissions (security tab). you can specifically deny the guest or only allow administrators, etc.

That's what I tried: I selected the folder I wanted to affect, right clicked on its name, and selected SECURITY and SHARING. I found no place to permissions other than the one mentioned in my original post, which was grayed out.

Try creating another folder and moving your sensitive documents there. You may need to disable "Simple File Sharing"

thanks again to you Bill! I was going nuts on this one (just installed first XP pro).

Is this for XP Pro only, or Home, too? I dont recall having this issue on the last Home I was on.

Home doesn't have simple file sharing, so no - it doesn't apply.

Make sure that you lock out the GUEST. Any category that YOUR ACCOUNT can fit will also be locked out, like USER!

Why not keep the data on a floppy/extra drive and lock it up?
