BH6 w/ bios Jan '99....
Wondered if anyone was having problems
with the BH6 detecting CDROM (master) on secondary ide channel upon bootup? I have
two newer bios KG & KJ but would rather not flash bios unless i find others confirming
the fix. The problem occurs with two different ide cdroms leading me to sense a
problem in the mboard. Oddly if you F8 to dos and cntrl-alt-del or do a Restart in Windows, the bios detects the cdrom, it's just when the board powers off that the next onpower detection is null. I've tried Ide Delay Intial (time) in bios to no avail. Just wondered if others have experienced bh6 ide
detect problems and if bios upgrade was any help?

Thanks,
Gripsz

well, i got the latest bios updates and my bh6 will occasionally "forget" the cdrom if i do a quick (shift) restart. a full restart will usually bring it back though. i chocked it up to overclocking, but now you got me wondering if the bh6's ide controller is the culprit.

I had it happen with a HP CD-RW. Ive never had it happen with my CL DVD or my Mitsumi CD-R or any combo of the 2 on the secondary connecter.

I think there is a compatibility issue between certain ide cdrom type devices and the BH6, because as soon as I removed teh HP CD-RW it worked fine, every boot!

Thanks for the replies, i rechecked Auto and bios settings, changed ribbon cables again, and power connectors, still no luck.....

figured the board had (still may in a sense) a flaw... lastly i decided to set the cdrom to Slave (jumper) on second ide and change bios to Auto on the second ide slave... guess what Works.. i'm very glad,, the board
seems to have allot of nice features and i really wanted to keep it..

at any rate so much for what worked in the past, and nothings for sure huh. the cdrom (actually i tried two different brand ones)
always functioned as master 2nd ide on other mobos...

thanks for responding
