Installing Photoshop 4 as part of scanner installation in brand new 400Mhz, 256MB RAM machine. Followed directions to a T.
When CD inserted, autorun starts application, there is momentary flicker like it might go, then the following message comes up:
"This Interactive application requires a minimum of 8-bit color capability."

Other methods of starting Setup - from MyComputer and Windows Explorer - get same result.

Will appreciate suggestions. thanks, bill

The error implies that your desktop is set to something like 16 color mode. Open the control panel (start->settings->control panel) and double click display. Click the settings tab at the top. You should see two drop down boxes on that window. One is color depth, the other is the resolution. Set the color depth higher and all should be well. Now if you can't get any higher than 256 colors, the driver for your video card may not be installed correctly. Check the docs for your card and install the driver for it. That should give you the higher color depth and resolution settings. Any questions on this feel free to ask. http://www.sysopt.com/forum/smile.gif
