I currently have my ip being obtained automatically. I run three computers off of a single router, which then connects to my cable modem.
I know the ip address, subnet, and gateway of my modem.
Is it possible to change my ip address ??

This is all because of a Ban on my current IP for some undisclosed reason, I have no idea why.

What router do you have?

Linksys
4port cable/dsl
model # BEFSR41

I know how to change the Ip given by the router, I need to know if it is possible for me to change the ip administrated by the cable company, and they administer them dynamically..obviously.

you will probably have to disconnect the cable from the modem for a few hours to get it to renew the IP.

At least thats the way my cable company is.

Holy hell.
Well it keeps happening and if I call them They will change it for me but I am sure that they will stop doing this sooner or later.
****, I don't have anything else to do I guess, but if someone knows how to do this without them, let me know.
Unless its highly illegal, then I don't want to know.

Go into the web utility of the router (the same place you'd change the ip administered by the router) and find a place that says "clone mac address" or the like, hit "clone" and change the last number to something else, save it, restart the router and the modem (unplug em).

Let me know if you don't have mac address cloning option, there are some other ways.

I actually tried this earlier, but instead of the last variable i changed a middle one. Well heck that worked perfectly, thank you very much.

Most DSL and Cable ISPs issue dynamic IPs, usually you are chraged extra for a static IP - are you paying for your problem? Have you tried ipconfig /release and /renew?

Actually there is nothing you can do about it.

My Cable IP sometimes stays the same for few months.

During the summer the whole system is Off every week for few days, never the less it will stay with the same IP.

Umm... there are many things you can do about it, some more complicated than others. He just said "that worked" and you reply "there is nothing you can do about it.", Did I miss something?

You need to turn the modem off, not the computer, to let the lease expire.
