just got thru installing my new hhd, and got windows and all my drivers loaded. (that was a job in itself) everything is ok so far (with a little tweaking) but i have 2 problems that i just can't figure out. my windows explorer is ALWAYS "view as webpage" which i don't want. i try unchecking it in the "view" tab and it works. but as soon as i change 1 directory, it goes back as the webpage. even if i go back to the same directory. am i missing sumthing?
also, whenever i log onto the net, it takes FOREVER to log on. it dials up fine, verifies u/p, then it stays "logging on to network" for about 1 min and 15 seconds. ne ideas on this one too?
ne help on either of the two would greatly be appreciated

Display properties /Web and uncheck View desktop as active web page.
Not sure about your modem problem. Do you have the correct drivers installed for it?
How about the TCP/IP settings?
Go to Dial-Up Networking, in My Computer, right click on the icon for your ISP, click on properties, then on Server Types, and under, Advanced Options, uncheck, "log on to Network"

If you're running Win98, the wait is very common, you are still able to launch your browser as soon as your display shows that it is logging on to the network. If it doesn't affect your performance, don't try to fix something that isn't broken.

Well, about that explorer. First open my computer, go to view and uncheck as web page. then go to view/folder options... Now go to custom based settings and in "View web content in folders" switch to "Only if folders....". Press ok and in folder options go to tab view and press "Like Current Folder" button. Now all the folders should look same and windows should remember it (it's supposed to... well, give it a try).

yep, that all worked. the "log onto network" fixed the log on problem and the explorer problem ended up needing rebooting. (i leave my comp on 24-7 btw) so when i reboot, that's a major accomplishment http://www.sysopt.com/forum/smile.gif
thanx for all the replies.
p.s.: stupid windows! hehe
