IE Problem

Hi i am new to this forum.

Currently i have a problem with my Internet explorer. My PC cant show the links that it suppose to have

eg.
The webpage left frame consist of all the links, but just one fine day when i start up my PC all the link are gone. all it left is just the frames. But when go to the other website like yahoo and stuff it works finely. And i went to other people PC and check that particular website all the people can works only mine cannot.

And i suspect that maybe the activex control of the internet plug-ins location at internet properties > General > Settings > view objects is gone or some files over there is gone.

Any kind people out there can help me??

OS: Win2000
IE: IE6 With SP1

Under internet explorer options, how many days is it set to keep your recently accessed pages?
Also is it the actual LINKS or your favorites that do not show.
Under internet options > Advanced....do you have the "empty temp internet folder when broswer closed" checked?
maybe down to settings...u done the usual scans for highjackers ect?

For the days that is set to keep the recently acessed pages is 20days, and under the advance settings "empty temp internet folder when broswer closed" is not check.

Anyway i have try to uninstall the SP1 and reinstall back and it does not slove the problem also. and i believe is the internet plugins that is begin remove that cause the problem.

Any Advice??? And thanks for Reply really appriecate.

well the active X, shockwave, ect plugins are ususally for display of the actual web pages and their content. The favorites and visited pages are cached on your HDD. I admit i havent heard of a plugin that keeps your favorites.
If you still think its activex control then try these links

When u have your favorites open on the left, under view, which option is checked.It may be on "show order as visited today", therefore if u just started browing there will be nothing to show in that frame.

Also u remember whihc plugins you may have removed?

Also at microsoft website, download the updated service pack 2

oh yea and btw... are you or have you used any internet cleaning tools, not adaware and trojan scanners but an actual internet browser cleaner...one that clears your temp folders, your temp fils and more importantly the index file aswell. If the index file is corrupt or missing or cleaned then ALL your settings will be restored to default, even with sum of your games.

Thanks for your help.. i didnt noe that Windows 2000 actually came out with service pack 2 already...

Dude - you need to do your Windows updates more often - Win2000 is up to service pack 4. The updates also fix bugs & security flaws in Internet Explorer.
