I'm sure this message has been asked before, but I can not find it on my searches.
I downloaded and installed RealVNC on a Win2K Pro pc that is inside a corporate LAN and also onto a WinXP Home laptop that connects to the internet through DSL. I need to do maintenance on the laptop from the pc, but can not connect to it. Any ideas what I am doing wrong, or recommendations? It is much appreciated!

May be this can Help: Ultr@VNC - Installation, and Settings. (http://www.ezlan.net/vnc.html)
I like Utr@VNC better. However, the principles of the above post apply to other VNC programs as well.

Still no luck. I had the remote user go to www.whatismyip.com to determine their current IP address. I ran the viewer from my pc with that IP address, but received a "10060: unable to connect to host. connection timed out" error message. I am able to connect to my server, which has VNC installed, using its LAN IP address though, so I assume I have everything installed correctly. Only difference is that the server is obviously on the LAN that I am on, and the remote laptop is on the Internet via DSL. Do I need to specify additional IP's, ports, etc... when I try to connect across the Internet to this person? Am I going about it the correct way? Thanks for all the input!

The LAN probabely has a router that is blocking outgoing and all incoming VNC calls.
We use VNC at work and I cal only connect to PCs on our network. No in and no out, period.
Can they try dialup?

have your router and/or your firewall to forward port 5900 (i think thats the port for VNC).
