Does anyone know of a software/shareware that will allow me to know when someone is calling when I am on line. I have call waiting, but I would like to be able to "bail" and answer the phone.

Thanks in advance..

Win 98, voice/fax/data modem.

Well, you can bite the bullet, lay out $100 and get a Call-Waiting modem made by Actiontek. It's guaranteed to work with just about every desktop OS, even Linux. It's even a PCI modem.

It will allow you to talk for about 5 sec before dropping you offline automatically.. or you can put them on hold, continue what you were doing then disconnect, then continue the conversation.

It's a pretty sweet modem, but I don't have call-waiting. I just bought it so it'd work with Linux. /forum/smile.gif

Sorry for the multi posts. It gave me an error saying it could not complete the request. It did this until I removed the last slash on the URL, but it was posting it any way I just didn't know it.

I've been looking for the answer to this same question for a while. I just GOT a new modem! I don't want to buy another! If you find out a cheap software solution, please tell us.

Oddly enough, my old USR Sportster modem used to drop the connection every time the phone rang. It drove me crazy but I couldn't figure out how to stop it from interrupting my downloads. Now with my new voice/fax modem, I keep missing calls when online.

As we speak, I'm downloading several phone utilities from Winfiles. Maybe one of them will be helpful...
