Hi, I am running Win XP home at my laptop and suddenly one day, NO OPEN PRGRAM SHOWS on the taskbar.
I see the program running on the screen and if there are multiple programs open, I can also switch them, using Alt + Tab.
But I just do not see the buttons on the task bar.
Would anyone able to help me??
is it because of virus? then, can anyone direct me to heal it?
I already ran Mcafee three times, but no infection.

Do I have to reinstall?? or overwrite XP?

Anyone please help... thank you.

Have you tried System Restore?

This might be hard to explain...but, do you have your taskbar locked?

I've seen people move the sliders, or separators so far out of whack...you couldn't see any open applications.

Try moving your task bar around, or...make it larger. You may find the open apps that way...good luck...

This may explain it better:

If your taskbar looks like the second one in the screenshot do like dajogejr said.

Right click the taskbar and make sure there is no checkmark next to Lock the Taskbar and drag your tasks back where they belong.

everyone's right but it's likely you just need to right click on the taskbar and change options - you shouldn't need to "drag" anything as running programs should appear automatically I believe?

and BTW - lock it again when you're done
