Hey Ya' All,
I have a Abit KD7Raid and would like to get the highest rated CPU.
The way I see it, the XP Barton 3000 is ok with 333 FSB.
Has anyone tried this or know if it will work with this board?
I really don't want to buy a CPU that won't work in it.....
Thanx.........

I have allready used the 2500 so I know this works......
Just hoped someone else has used something higher....

Barton's are XPs also. The term "Barton" describes the processor's core.

According to THIS (http://www.abit.com.tw/abitweb/webjsp/test_report/KD7/01.php) the highest you can go is a 2200+. Thats nowhere even close to a 3000+ so unless there has been a BIOS update to support higher processors then I'd say it won't work.

Thank you JF
I did go to the AMD site and found recomended mobo's.
and with the XP3000 @ 333 the Abit KD7was in the list.
I was just thinking someone may have used this CPU on an Abit mobo and could share their experience.

I think the mother board manufacterers only test their MB's with various CPU's when the MB's first come out.

So if AMD was only up to XP2200+ when the MB came out, that's the most they've tested it for.

However, I think the CPU makers are constantly testing with older MB's. So the CPU maker's site is probably more up to date as to what CPU will work with what MB.

That board will support Bartons so it will support the 3000+ but, if you have an early board it may need a bios update.
