so this may be old news, but i just wanted to voice what ive been holding back for a while. i dont know if this is like copyright infringement or still freedom of speech.

so when people were talking about how awesome the xbox was, i found out, along with others, that it was a P3 733 with a nice graphics card, even with broadband capabilities, and also plays dvds.

if you think about it, thats a pretty capable computer for 150 bucks.

so hypothetically speaking, if you found out what was the thing NOT allowing you to play other games, you could take that chip out, and then switch the hard-drive, add in a cd-rw or get a dvd/rw whichever is allowed.

take out or add a plug in for a keyboard and mouse. (the 3rd and 4th player plugs)
so if you are in a metropolitan city, and you already have broadband, and need a computer, with a soldering iron and some effort, you could get a nice system for less than 200 bucks. and it hooks up to your tv. can it get any better?

Those front connectors are usb. So all you have to is find a usb connector adapter for the xbox. Also now I have seen xboxes with 1.4ghz cpus in them.
