Are there any motherboards that are seperately available for the G4 processor? Can a G4 be wired up so that it runs on PC instead on Mac? (Win 98)?

Dominus 09-16-1999, 05:55 AM Nope, but as soon as the developers catch up, you'll be able to run LinuxPPC on it. But honestly, I don't think that the G4 is going to be that great in the real world. Wait for *independant* testing before you buy. CMonster 09-16-1999, 06:49 AM I have a real, honest-to-goodness, rocket scientist buddy who has held a top-secret clearence, and designed missile guidence systems for "XXXXXX- Missile Systems"and currently he works at "XX- Computers" doing radar imaging systems for millitary applications, (great now they'll have to kill me) and when I told him that the G4 was comercially available he seemed kind of surprized, saying, "Really!? That's what we use!?" Of course the minimum application he deals with has like 40 to 120 CPUs. Nevertheless, he had high praise for what he called "128-bit vector processing." However, he also wondered what kind of software might possibly take full advantage of the chip's capabilities and seemed to express doubt that the MAC OS or any comercial applications had that ability.
