Well, it partially depends on what you are going to primarily do with it.

Color printouts (duh), photo-quality pictures on glossy paper, text, etc...

Let us know, because EVERYBODY has an opinion of their printers:

I have a Epson Stylus Color 600. Had a 400 at work, liked them both. Beautiful near photo images on the special glossy inkjet paper. I only use it for home stuff, though, fun stuff, goofy pictures, and my grad work. All inkjet ink will cost you $$ in the long run.. that's how they make most of their money I bet! They still make the 440 and 640 I believe.

Downside: They tend to clean themselves often, and go through a bunch of ink, but I personally haven't had a major problem in the year and a half I've had it. (Probably just jinxed myself...)

I have an Epson Photo 700. It is almost a year old and I'm starting to have a problem with a grinding noise. Maybe someone here can tell me what it is. I sent an email to Epson but they sent me back some **** about turning it off then holding a couple of buttons then while standing on your head looking cross eyed turn the thing back on. Well maybe not exactly like that but close. I'm still having a problem with it. My in-laws have the same printer and they had theirs replace.

I Think that Epson has the best photo quality. I don't like HP ink jets because the ink don't dry fast enough. Imagine how happy you would be getting ink all over your cloths before you realized that you have ink on your hands.

I hope that we get a nice thread going here, although for more info you can always go to the user review section.

If you are looking for a great color printer look into the Lexmark 3200 and Z51 printers. the 3200 runs about 149 and Z51 229. Both offer the industry leading 1200x1200 dpi ! better than Epsons 1440x720 dpi. I have both of the above printers and must say I have never had a problem with lexmark printers (btw they offer NEXT DAY replacement for a full year! standard and that can even be upgraded to 3 years for a minimal charge)

thats my thoughts on the subject

Gotta agree with MNTSNOW...
Lexmark has come a long way.. my sister just bought one, and my parents had one also.

I stay away from all HP inkjets.. we had nothing but trouble trouble trouble with them at work, not to mention the price of the ink. Like their laserjets a lot, though! But again, Lexmark has really bitten into that as well...
