I need a recommended P4 processor up to 2.4ghz 533FSB for this motherboard. With so many out (ex. prescott, northwood etc.) it's hard to even know what I can get.

I think you could get a Northwood P4b because the c's won't run at speed on a 533FSB board anyway. Also the P4b 2.53GHz 533FSB should be a good deal at this point.:t chriswhitelaw 06-07-2004, 02:41 PM The P4PE motherboard right now it has a intel celeron 2.4ghz@3.0ghz with 333FSB PC2100 512mb DDR TI4600 xtasy Geforce 4 128mb bigtfromkc 06-07-2004, 03:38 PM ive had this processor for the last 20 months click me (http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProductDesc.asp?description=19-116-139&depa=1) with my P4PE motherboard it has been great to me, which should be obvious from the reviews...but im gonna be getting a new computer soon, not by choice but because im gonna be giving it to someone else the price seems a little too high to me...isn't the 2500 close or better then a p4 2.4? and its like 70 dollars cheaper  20 months ago i paid about 270 for this processor...meh causticVapor 06-11-2004, 04:59 PM The P4 2.4A (Prescott) is another option, though I don't think it'd be the best one. chriswhitelaw 06-12-2004, 04:31 PM I do plan on overclocking whatever one I get so is Prescott the way to go? causticVapor 06-12-2004, 08:51 PM Unless you're willing to spend lots of money on a hefty cooling apparatus and are perfectly OK with risking the death of your motherboard, the northwood is the better CPU to obtain for overclocking. Read the reviews of people who obtained the 2.4GHz P4. Is it a B0? C1? D1? The latter two steppings are the better ones, with the last being particularly exceptional. 3GHz+ is almost guaranteed with the D1 stepping. None of the steppings, however, tend to be particularily bad for overclocking. And sometimes attainable speeds overlap - there are B0s that do better than C1s, but are few and far between. It's all a trendline.:t SysOpt.com
