That is very hard to answer, all motherboards makers have their good and bad. Usally ASUS, MSI, ABIT, Gigabyte make great stable boards.

You won't find a definitive answer for that question...
By "best motherboard for gaming" I assume you mean which will give you the best performance (highest FPS)!?! The chosen CPU and chipset will impact on performance (memory/video card/hdd can be put in any system so that doesn't matter yet).
Decide on a CPU/chipset first and we'll go from there.
You may also want to try reading up on some reviews to get a handle on current models and check out some benchmarks.

Ok, so we're looking for a Socket 754... your chipset options are: VIA K8T800 (Pro), SiS 755, nForce3 150, nForce3 250.
I would say your two main choices are either the nForce3 250 or K8T800. They're fairly comparable competitors tho the nForce3 costs more.
I'm an MSI or ASUS fan... lately MSI has been my first choice tho.

In regards to the CPU the A64 3000+ has a 512K L2 cache... the 3200+ offers a full 1MB, tho the gap isn't exactly huge.

Do you know whats the difference between the nForce 3 150 and the nForce 3 250?

The NF3 was very slow compared to the VIA, so Nvidia made the 250 whcih is much better then the 150. get this Mobo in my opinion

Indeed, the nForce3 150 was a bit of flop. Performance wise it didn't compete with VIA and there were some BIOS issues and the lack of SATA support... it really was an interim solution until the 250 could debut.
The nForce3 250 is a nice chipset, tho i'm not certain it's cost is warranted when the K8T800 (MSI K8T Neo-FISR2 or K8T Neo-FSR) can offer very similiar features/performance at a lesser price ($30/$55 less then the nForce3 250GB board Yohsi posted... the MSI K8N Neo Platinum). Tho the K8N has a black PCB which is kinda sexy. :p
It was a different story between the nForce2 and KT400/KT600 tho... nForce2 was typically the better option (and there were very few KT600 choices).
