Does anyone have any ideas on how to defrag my WD36400 hard drive? I have reinstalled, formatted, run WDDiag, and finally WDClr and nothing has changed. The drive works fine in a PII-300 system with an LX chipset, but locks up when defragged in a AMD K6-233 with a VIA VP3 chipset. I have used Win98 and Norton's defrag.
Western Digital has been less than helpful. I saw at least 4 people with my problem posted, and WD's response to all of them is, "the problem doesn't exist, try something else".

Thanks for responding.
I did install the HD controller patch and AGP patch from the CD, but I will go and try one from the VIA web-site.

Ahhhhh.....
It's always nice to see a happy ending.

Good job,Joko. I'll try to remember that myself just in case.
