Is this a video card problem or a sound card problem?

I have an AIWP AGP and SB Live Value on an Asus P2B. Both are using IRQ 11, yet Device Manager doesn't seem to have a problem with this. Any games I play though (Q2, Jedi Knight, X-Wing Alliance, and even Doom for Win 95) have temporary lockups during gameplay...screen (and all game action) will freeze, sound playing at moment of freeze will loop about 5 times or so, then everything will continue where it left off. Tried removing the Live from D.M. and letting the machine re-install it, no luck. Should I try again and physically remove the card, or is this a problem with the AIWP?

Any suggestions?

I have ATI AIWP AGP, CL SB Live, & Adaptec ISA 1510 SCSI on a BH6. They all have different IRQ. Remove the devices from your Windows, Shutdown, move the SB Live location, reboot & reinstall.

Also, check in BIOS if it allows you to manipulate IRQ assignment to PCI card.

do you have the sound card in PCI slot 1? 'cause if you do, that slot shares an IRQ w/the AGP.

Tried removing the Live from Device Manager and re-starting, put me back to the same situation.

Live is a couple of slots away from AGP, not right next to it.

BIOS does allow me to force IRQ assignment, but I haven't ventured into it that far yet.

Your system should be fine.. because osr2 and win98 support IRQ Steering.. which allows multiple PCI devices to share an IRQ. If you want to disable this feature.. go into device manager /expand system devices/double click on PCI bus and click on IRQ steering tab...

I had the same issue with my AGP card, even though no problems existed. What was said above is true, move the SB to a slot other than the one adjacent to the AGP slot. When you reboot Windows should reallocate IRQs and all should be well.
