I got a new computer and now want to move my Outlook messages over to my new computer. Both computers are basically configured the same with Windows 2000 and Office 2000. They are both on a network so all files are accessable and can easily be moved over. What do I need to make things look like the old computer on the new computer.
If you haven't moved it, the Outlook folder with your .PST outlook messages is in:
C:\Documents and Settings\wangel\Local Settings\Application Data\Microsoft\Outlook
I like to grab the whole "Outlook" folder with the "extend.dat" and "Outlook.pst" files in it from the old machine.
On your new machine, in the same location, rename the "Outlook" folder to "Outlookold". Or whatever.
Now move the "Outlook" folder from the old machine right in beside the "Outlookold" folder on the new machine.
Now when you open Outlook on your new machine, everything should be there.

Great advice. Moving the *.pst file over restored all my messaages. Unfortunately, my address book is still blank. Is there another file or some other means to get my address book back? Many thanks.

Do a search for *.oab files. That is the address book format.
wangel, your "contacts" should be there.
Edit: Open your address book, where it says "show names from the.." contacts, there should be 2 "contacts" entries. Try the other one.
