case mod w/ speaker

call me carzy, but i want to put i speaker in my case.
i couldn't find anyone on the internet who has done this, so i have reference to know if this is problematic or not.

i took a look at a few shielded speakers, but none of them really appealed to me. then i thought about getting a car speaker, however i don't know how to shield it.

any help? looking for a speaker with good all around sound. if you know of a decent shielded one, that would be great.

Shielded or not I wouldn't want a great big magnet anywhere near my computer. Plus the sound quality would be garbage.

mac did it with the 2nd gen (i think) cases. That speaker in the front, when you disconect the speakers you get low quality mono sound out of ur 3000 dollar computer.:D

my best friend was 15 saved up all his money years back and bought one of these. honestly, he probably logged MAYBE 100 hours on this computer and put it in his closet never to be used again cause it was a mac. but heres the thing, i played myth on it, and honestly the "sub" that was in the case was awsome. i dont know how nor would i want to do it to my pc, but it was unreal how well it sounded. it was a nice deep base and didnt cut out at higher volumes. i always thoguht it was awsome, but again i wouldnt attempt it in my pc.

to bad hes to stobbern to sell that boat anchor, but he was a big mac fan and hated to admit pc was better then mac FOR WHAT HE DID(i dont want to start a war here i know the pro's and con's)

Doubt the sound quality is very good with that speaker but you cant beat the price. Sounds similar to what you are trying to do, perhaps a bit safer though.

Dont use a car speaker, they run off 4 ohms, not good for home systems, unless you buy and amp that will support it.

ok i think i got it. i am going to use two 4" 4 ohm shielded speakers and wire them as a serial circuit to draw the 8 ohms from my card. i have thought it through and decided that there are many other devices that have speakers right next to electronics and they work fine (tv's, electrinpianos, radio and cd players, so as long as the speaks are nicely shielded i think i will be fine.
when i get this done i will be sure to let you all know how it comes out.
