i was looking at borders today for a C++ book for beginners, but i decided not to get one yet (partially cause i didnt have any $$ with me). also, i didnt want to buy one and have it be complete ****... so yea.. are there any exceptionally good ones out there?

Bruce Eckel's released a series of his programming books for free in electronic format, including the very good "Thinking In C++":

I would definitely try that free book recommended above. If that doesn't work out for you (I tried it first and it didn't float my boat), a very good book to learn from is C++ How to Program, by Deitel & Deitel.
