I'm going to start building my first homebuilt over the next month or so and I'm interested in this cooler:
http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/searchtools/item-Details.asp?EdpNo=480022&sku=C250-2134
I originally was thinking about a 1.8GHz Duron, but now I'm tempted by a 1.8 or 2.0GHz Athlon XP. This cooler spins at 2700RPM and makes only 26.5 dBA, yet pushes 38CFM. Will that keep a top-end Thoroughbred in relatively cool climes?

That should be fine. Looks a lot better than the stock one that comes with the 2400. Especially with that 80mm fan.

Your right.
it looks just like the one at newegg.
It should cool your 2400 just fine.
My brother has a 2500+ at 3200+ running under 60 celcius under load with the one from newegg if that helps you any.

60c is a bit high. I have a 2600+ overclocked to 2.5ghz (2ghz is the normal freq.), and it's running at 50c under load with this fan.

read the fine print! I recently was sent a used mobo (was supposed to be new) by that retailer & had to send it back. They made good on the return but there are alot of consumer complaints (& lawsuits) against them.

I have been using one of these on my XP2800+ and it works great. I leave the fan on low except when playing a game then turn it up to about half.

Also used Artic Silver on install.

Buy that HSF combo, it's great. But skip Tigerdirect, buy from Newegg

The risk is substantially less if you can fondle an item before you buy. You can at least verify that it is unused.
Enjoy!

FYI, don't deal with Tigerdirect! Too many comsumer complaints! They tend to say one thing and do another.
