Can someone tell me is it possible to somehow control and get access to all areas of a cell phone remotely? I would like to be able to open and interact with the cell phone's menus, email app, etc.

Can the SIMToolkit, or SMS help in acieving this in any way?

Thank you

cell phones are "blah blah" and too talk in the car while your driving should be illegal, next question!

no, and that would defeat the purpose of the cell phone

how about trying to use the accessories like the hands free then maybe you could concentrate on the road more instead of that all important call that's more important then driving

cell phone+person=shot onsite

ok grow up and answer the question or get lost......

right then, the main thing is that most of the specifications change from phone to phone eg connectors etc are all different, but often they use standard at commands and are occasionally well documented.

taking a random link from my bookmarks folder
http://www-student.informatik.uni-bonn.de/~rohde/Sagem/sgm9xx_atcmd.html
gives the at commands that the sagem 900 series supports. if you can find a similar site for your phone then all you need to do is write the program.

second of all wireless is actually easier if your phone supports bluetooth since you get rid of the obscure connector. this may be a little harder to program though....

some of that may be a bit vague, any more details you'd like??

In theory it sounds possible... I just don't think anyone here, or at least those who have posted, have the desire or knowledge to assist you. This is a general computing forum... are there any other forums or newsgroups dedicated to what you're asking?

The short answer is, no. Short of programming a program yourself to hack into your phone, there are no readily available programs that do this, im sure there is some cell phone duplication programs, that are illegal, that would allow you to do it, or you could come up with a program yourself, but no. If I am wrong I would like to see someone put up a link b/c I know alot about cell phones, and would like to know what some of these people are talking about that are saying yes you can.

The only way I could see it happening with readily available software is if you had a PDA phone and had it connected to your pc, then logged in on another computer with the windows remote login, then maybe you could access the PDA cell phone. There could be even software that will allow you to connect to pocketpc os so that you wouldnt have to have the PDA hooked up to the computer. Either way you would need..

1. A PDA Cell Phone
2. A laptop or another computer to access the phone with an internet connection

saying "hack into your phone" is putting it a little strong....
the functionality is definitely there eg handsfree kits use a limited portion of it. AT commands are not secret by any standards, thats kind of the point. generally the phone company will be happy to give it out to commercial developers privately rather than put it on the internet for stupid people get hold of.

and yes, as rsfnatik siad, this may not be the best place to discuss this kind of thing . i dont know of any suitable forums however.....

where'd the original poster go anyway? what kind of phone are you dealing with? how much do you know about phones, programming, electronics etc?
what do you want to automate and whats wrong with old fashioned fingers?

and as for an example of it being done, while it may be a bad idea to mention macs-iSync lets you do bluetooth connections for sms, dialing from the computers address book etc.
ive also heard of my-friend-heard-from-his-friend type rumors that someone they know did it with their pc. but thats all i know of....
