I have an Amptron PM-7900 board that I am trying to run a Pentium 166 MMX 2.8 volt chip in. It turns out that if I am going to use this chip I will need a "VRM", a voltage regulator module to adapt the board voltage to the chip. What alternatives do I have here? Where can I get one of these VRMs? Did I ruin the chip by trying to run it a higher voltage in my board?

You have little choice running this older board. You must have the Amptron plug in VRM.Contact Amptron for a list of vendors. Maybe you have done no damage so far.
