My experience here in the Los Angeles area:
Your local telcos should have websites up, that's a good place to start looking and your ISP may have a service also. You'll need to have your lines tested by the telco (it's done remotely) to make sure that their service is available where you're at.
I'm not familiar (never checked them out) with the stand-alone businesses though, so sorry I don't have any names for you.
