Please help if possible - Creative wants the serial #'s off of their products in my computer before they will even read or receive a request for help. Makes me mad - I have registered my DVD and SBLive with them and they should not require that I now have to open up my computer and find these serial #'s.
Anyway, done venting, now the problem, I just installed my SBLive maybe 2 weeks ago, see there is update for the card at their site - I download, sblw9xup.exe - BUT when click on it, it starts to expand then I get message, "The decompression of %s failed. May not be enough free space availabe in TEMP directory."
I have checked there is not that much in my TEMP dir. BUT I transferred al that was in there temporarily to recycle bin, turned off all programs running in background, to be sure, then tried and I still get that message. Don't know what to do to get it to unzip and install??? It seems to drop a W9t file in my TEMP ????
TKS 4 any help ---- Michael

1st, learn to record info off your hardware before installing it, this probably won't be the last time you need a serial, version, or chipset #.
2nd, in my opinion, you should always keep your temp folder empty, after installing anything, clean it out, if there is anything you need to have, give it it's own location.
3rd, i see no reason for the extraction process to abort*, except a faulty download...try d/l'ing again (check your mail, here it comes). i had no trouble at all when i ran the update.

*unless there is an 'OS' issue of some sort i'm not aware of. anybody?

I have to agree with Aug...I think you might have gotten a bad download...I did the updates and everything ran just fine. I didnt even extract to the temp folder....Using winzip I extracted to my own personal folder that I use for software updates...Try downloading again....What a bummer :-(

Mntsnow-HOW did you extract an "InstallShield" self-extractor with WinZip?

To tell truth, I'm not sure, as u know never have been able to open the download BUT when it does start to install I found it drops several files in TEMP = for the H of it, I opened them up and in one was like an upside down V - clicked on it and WALA - something was installed BUT in SBL Properties/ Drivers list none are #'d now like it shows the new drivers supposed to be installed (at CL Dowmload site). Maybe it does'nt change them like that - I'd think so though. BUT File Version # is now same as yours.
Reading a readme that came with new environments fm CL it said only wk if you have latest Version drivers - which it now shows in Control Panel BUT if I use test in readme I don't have latest - go to AudioHQ, right click, choose About and I get an old Version #.
That is latest fm here

Try and see how much hard drive space is available. You probably need more than 10 or 15 mb to extract the files properly. As the person said above, you don't need anything in the temp directory. I would install the original drivers that came with your card. After the reboot I would then install the update.
I was wondering if any of you sblive owners are having a problem with the Environment shortcut on the Environment tab of Creative Launcher. My environment shortcut seems to disapear every once in a while. It will show up if I change the environmental setting in audiohq and then close it. It was very frusturating cause when I right clicked and clicked add item, it showed the environmental setting. I thought I would just readd the shortcut, unfortunately it is a plugin and the file it is linked to is a dll file. I confirmed this to be a bug with creative launcher with Creative's Tech Support.

TKS Junior, I have about 4GB FREE ON hd, so don't think that is the problem. Have totally emptied TEMP into recycle bin, then tried install, same message and NO install.
May try your suggestion of re-install and see what happens - can't hurt.
Did you have to give CL Tech your serial #'s to get any help from them?

I called a while ago and they did not require me to give them the serials.
