I have a Pentium4 2.6C running at 3.25GHz with a voltage of 1.65V.
I would like to know what temperatures are safe and normal for this type of processor. When running games, it gets up around 60ºC, and when running Prime95 it gets up to 70ºC. When idling it sits on about 40ºC.
Are these temperatures safe? What is the hottest temperature this type of processor should go to?

Your on the high side for sure. 70C isn't going to kill the processor, but it certainly isn't helping it's lifespan. I'd try to keep it around 50C max with prime and aim for a 40C or so idle would be preferred. What heatsink/fan are you using?

I am just using the stock Intel HSF. By the way; what do you think is a good cooling solution that isn't ultra expensive?

Definatly get the zalman yoshi posted... I'm running it on my overclocked athlon and i've yet to even reach 50C. It also works with your intel cpu.

70c.... WAY to hot. I back what Someone Stupid said (as funny as that sounds), but also add that at the temp. it will surely not be stable.
My target temp is never above 54c on a full load for a rock solid stable system. Anything more than that can cause... issue's.
Of course 50c is a more comfortable temp. but as long as it doesnt hit over 54c, you should be golden.
