Don't if there's any linux users here. But i would like to know if changing the boot sequence from A: C: Cdrom to Cdrom: C: A: will allow me to install from cdrom rather than A:.
I already did change the sequence and the cd wich have a Autoboot.bat from Mandrake-Linux ISO didn't work. Can anyone advice what is i should do in order to install Linux?
Thanks

KGB,

It may be a problem with the BIOS/board rather than the CD. Some motherboards (I have one) can be set in BIOS to boot from CDROM and yet will not. I have another board which does.

Most Important Words - READ THE README on the Linux CD, most likely you can read it from windows. Look for information on creating "boot" and/or "root" disks. It can be a little frustrating at first, but don't give up. I think I remember having to install (copy to C drive) the program "rawrite.exe" or something like that in order to create the boot and root disketts with which I was able to access the CDROM and install Linux.

You will most likely have to use a command line in a DOS window to create the disketts but the Linux CD should have all the information you need, and will tell you exactly what to type.

And the fun is barely beggining ---- ha http://www.sysopt.com/forum/smile.gif ha http://www.sysopt.com/forum/smile.gif ha http://www.sysopt.com/forum/smile.gif

Hi CMonster,
Thank you for your reply. I did follow all other avenue to install Mandrake-Linux but no luck. I will consider your suggestion in copying the Rawrite.exe on c: drive (in Windows) to see if its possible to create those boot diskett. I'll let you know. (My next step is to install the Rhat v5.0 and upgraded to 5.3 with that KDE.

Again thank you.
George.
