Maybe I'm completely misunderstanding something here, but I was just browsing the traffic log created by my Sygate Personal Firewall. I'm confused because my PC is using local ports in the 1000 range for HTTP and POP-3. The remote ports are 80 and 110, but my local ports are 1077 and 1078.
I get that maybe the associated applications are just picking the next available port on my side, but I guess I also thought that 80 and 110 were pretty much standard and that my PC would use these local ports. What's the deal? :confused:
