Anyone know an answer to this? It is really strange becuase if I click on the word "Favorites" at the top of IE 4.0, the drop-down menu lists them in chronological order. However, if I click on the Favorites Icon, the window opens up on the left side of the screen and they are in the correct alphabetical order. I also have the problem when working with images in Photoview. Everytime I do a "Save As" I much choose a destination folder...no biggy - but all my folders are listed in chronlogical order on my C drive. Downloading a file and browseing for a destination location is the same too. This is not a very convenient way to find things. I've tried all the obvious solutions - restoring default folder properties - yadda yadda. I can always left click and do "arrange by name" every single time...but believe me - that's getting pretty old. This is driving me nuts so any help would be appreciated. Win98, P2-450, 128 Meg RAM.

Thanks,
Joe

have you thought about arranging them the way you want it to beż

Sure, of course I have arranged them the way I want them to be. The only problem is after I do that, the next time the computer arranges them the way IT wants them to be...which is quite unuseful as "Sorted by Date"!

Thanks though!

This link is as close to a solution you may find. http://support.microsoft.com/support/kb/articles/q177/4/82.asp

This symptom has been appearing since IE versions 2.0 - 3.02a for the old Win3.1.

Back then you had to remove one or more of the items and add them back again so that the items would appear in the order you want.

I guess it has reared it's head again in a slightly different form. This time you'll probably have to edit the registry.
