Hey guys, I was given a P75 yesterday, but I can't get anything out of it. When it's powered on, it just sits there giving one long beep, and the screen stays black. As well, there are 2 rows of 40 pins on the motherboard, presumable IDE connections, but no floppy connection. It does have an IDE expansion card, but I'm curious as to what's on the motherboard. "PT-730A" and "941228A" are the only prominent numbers on the motherboard. I tried reseating the video card, trying it in different slots, and tried reseating the ram in different slots, all with that non-stop beep. At the moment I'm stuck on this one. Any ideas? Thanks for any advise.

I stand corrected, it's not a non-stop beep, but just non-stop long ones. There are pauses. Come on guys, any ideas? Could it be because it needs it's ram in pairs, and it only has a single? I could really use some advise on this.

If thats a regular P75,you need ram in pairs to light the board. Try some memory first-In pairs.

Finally, some advise. Thanks. It's a regular ol Intel P75. It has a single ram card in it, but people were playing around in there before I got it. The only ram in pairs I have access to are parity chips. Would they work? Would anything be damaged by trying? Thanks again.

Make sure all your cables are connected properly.. meaning the red stripes..

First thing I would do is,break it down to a basic system.Mainboard, power supply (make sure the black wires are next to each other on the dual ps connectors),cpu, video card, and two 72 pin strips of your borrowed memory installed in the first two memory slots.
Second,if the machine boots to the first screen, you can copy down your bios string numbers to research your mainboard. If it doesn't boot, the jumpers may have been changed on the board. Let me know how you make out.

They are. I checked and fixed them when I first got it. I tried the two 4 meg chips from a 486 and it booted fine. Now to find somewhere to exchange the single 16 for two 8's... Thanks for the advise.
