PS2 Steering wheels. What's good/great/the best then? Somebody must know. I have been toying with the idea for ages now, but with GT4 out later in the year I may take the plunge before then and get used to it before the release.

I bought a steering wheel for my PS2 feeling much excitement and anticipation. I got home, eagerly ripped away the packaging and wired it up. I threw on Gran Tourismo and, and . . . and then started to look at myself.
Sat on my sofa, the steering wheel mounted on a coffee table with little suckers, my socked feet slipping on plastic peddles. Surely this was no way for a 28 year old man to spend his weekends: playing games with a plastic steering wheel by himself. Somehow a standard controller is hipper - I mean, a purpose built steering wheel says something about how seriously you take these things. At least with a controller you can pretend you're not that into it that much when you girlfriend comes over.
To say it looked 'sad' was an understatement. I felt ashamed . . . and threw my wheel away.

TBH, I think I am past caring about looking sad, and the wife knows it. Having been married 4 years, she knows all of my sadnesses, and tolerates some of them, tuts at others, and shouts at the rest. She loves it really!
I do take your point though, and being a 26 1/2 yr old fella does look a little sad with a steering wheel on the coffee table, but hey, I'm sad, a geek etc. and proud! Please point me at the best steering wheels!

Here's a directory of wheels:

. . . good luck and I think at 26 1/2 you're still young enough to get away with it.

Plus the fact that the wife signed a certificate saying till death do us part and all that, I might just do it. SHould have had "even if he is really sad" put on it too. She does vaguely know that I want a wheel, but now we bought our first house last December, she has become very house proud. She might not appreciate it as much. Ah well, plenty mor fish in the sea! Only kidding :D
