Hello,
I bought a BH6 motherb. and a Celeron 300A and everything worked fine until I plugged in a Sound blaster Live! Value version.
If I don't install SB Live drivers (including EAX support), win98 runs smoothly, but, when I decide to install drivers:
1) Win 98 doesn't boot
2) if Win 98 boots, there is an terrific noise from the speakers (4 point Sorround), but only when I make EAX libraries active.

I've tried to plug the card in every slot, but this doesn't work. I don't know if the problem is my old Matrox Mystique 170 video card.

Can anybody help me

Thanks

got almost the same setup as you do (except win95osr2), so i know its prob not the mystique. don't know if it's related or not, but the mystique doesn't need an irq and you can disable it in the bh6 bios.

usually putting the sblive in a certain slot (5 i think) fixed the problem for most people, but you tried that already. are you getting any conflicts in the device manager?

with the bh6, you must use the sblive custom install and install all but the dos drivers - they screw up the bh6's irqs.

See my post on Win98 Keeps locking up.

I have same mb and sblive. My solution is this:
Uninstall sblive drivers through windows.
Remove sound card.
Now computer should reboot really fast, and windows will zip.
Reinstall drivers for sblive.
Restart.
Shutdown.
Install sblive card (mine is in pci slot 2)
hook everything back up and restart.
mb will automatically search for the slot you installed it in. and windows will run the drivers.

That should fix your problem.......

also...make absolutely certain you have the latest busmaster driver available...this solved all my sblive problems.

Thank You. Everything seems to work. I'm wondering why an important manufacturer like Abit sell low-quality motherboards, which don't work with any hardware...

Thanks again
