windows XP Pro all updates.

whenever i create a new dialer, it dissapears if i restart. if i use the shortcut, i can still dial to it, but it will never show in the task list

the short cut doesnt point to anything, rather it points to

{BA126AD7-2166-11D1-B1D0-00905FC1270E}

Network connections is empty.

There is no way for me to disconnect from the internet without restarting.

if i pull the adsl plug & disconnect that way it wount let me reconnect cause it gets stuck on verifying username & pwrd.

the screens on the icon that i dial do never change to show the status of the connection, while the icon for another connection that is not dialed, always shows blue screens.

DSL means that you use Enternet to dial. There will be no dialer in Network Connections.

Why don't you just put a shortcut to Enternet 300 on your desktop? You can put it in your Startup folder too. Another option is a router - they can dial for you.

first of all, thank you for moving, i muself wa sunsure where to post it.

i dont know what enternet is.

i have dialup adsl & the way that the isp has set it up for me ( many times) is that i have to dialup exactly the same as if i had 56k, except for a vci & vpi instead of a telephone number.

this way works great on evry pc i use, except for this one.

the shortcuts on other PCs always point to the dialer by name, except for this one which points to that alphanumeric target.

it is getting frustrating because i attend online meetings & when i get cut off, i have to restart the pc before i can attempt to connect again.

also, i have noticed that this pc takes about 2 times the length of time to detect the atm carrier signal on the line than my laptop (i connect either one to the same adsl line, but have no requirement to cross cable them)

i hope you have enough to help me with now bill, if not i can post captures of whaever you request.

Have you considered calling your ISP for help?

yes bill.

i have spent hours with them installing & reinstalling ( & uninstalling ) the network components, adsl drivers, etc...

they believe it to be an OS problem & perhaps I agree, even though i have formatted this thing because of this & reinstalled winxp.
