I have installed the latest bios and it reads as a 400 mhz celeron on startup. When it is running in does so at 133 mhz. I set 400(66) in bios setup but it doesn't run there. I tried a setting of 4x on the 100mhz bus but it won't even boot up then. Need Help!

Well, for starters, stop trying to run the board at a 100MHz bus. You can be talkin bad things here. If the multiplier is set correctly (6x) then you'll be running at 600 MHz which, even if it did post, would fry that puppy in a heartbeat. So basically what you're looking at is a processor with the multiplier clock locked at 6X and a 66 MHz bus (or 75, perhaps 83 if your brave and lucky enough to catch a Malaysian one, assuming you want to oc). So anyway, back to the point. The way I understand it (or at least what I was told by a computer shop) is that you need to stick a Pentium II in the board and get it to recognize a 400 at 66MHZ then shut it down and put in the Celeron. I was also told that the chances of this being successful is less likely if you use a 300A to attempt this. Now not many people I know just have a spare PII laying around the house, so you may want to contact the place you bought it at (if you didn't go mail order) and have them set it up for you. Now keep in mind that this seems odd to me too and I'm very open to being corrected on this. However, this is what I was told (haven't actually tried it yet, it's for someone elses 'puter and I'm not finished with it yet) so I'm just passin' it along. Good Luck!!

i had a similar problem when i tried to test out a c400a in my c300a sys. i resorted to clearing the bios by closing the jumpers CCMOS1 for a minute. the next time i tried to put my c300 back in, i had to actually pull the battery before i could get it to work again (almost had a heart attack -- i did ground myself, right?!).

of course you lose all your previous settings, but it works.
