I've installed a 10.1GB deskstar 14GXP as the primary master in a system with an Abit BX6 rev2 mobo and seagate ST36540A (6.4GB) as slave. Well basically, the bios just will not give the correct size of the IBM HD, it defaults to 7.9 GB constantly. Usinig the auto detect settung does indeed identify IBM's dirive ID, but still reports the wrong size. I've manually enetered the cylinders, heds, etc, but no go. it reverts to 7.9GB on power up. However, both Windows 98 and Ontrack's disk manager correctly give the size. So far, the drive boots up windows, but scandisk keeps giveing partition and extended boot errors. additionally. thir party utilities such as Drive image , Partion Magic and Partion It, do not eve see the IBM drive. Does anyone know what's going on.
