And it appears that HL2's MP will be some sort of adaptation of CS while HL1 content will also be portable to source (wonder if we get the all new physics aspect in the old game too?), goodie :)

Doesnt look like the HL/Opfor/BS updates will be a free lunch, but for a small fee i woudl happily pay for them.

Also, you wanna check out the 31mb video for the more in depth game-play footage rather than the smaller, newer video.

Additionally a 600Mb+ 20 minute higher res video of all E3 2004 footage has been released (just liek they did last year), mirrors are listed here:

While the official website has only just gone up, which suggests to me, that we're on for summer girsl and boys

It isnt CS2, simply CS in Source (which makes you wonder if ppl whove just bought CS:CZ arent just a bit annoyed), CS2 and TF2 have both been conspicuous in their absence at E3.

On the basis of E3 2004, all i can say is that a phenomenal amount of work has been done by Valve in all of 8 Months when comparing these videos to the September 2003 build of the game

Looks pretty good I have to say, and I would have to say whomever Bought CS and CZ should have been annoyed with it before now, it was horrible.

I did know that the Makers of Doom where thinking about re-vamping the Quake series with the New Doom engine, but they dropped that Idea for some reason.

HL2 looks amazing, they've definately put an emphasis on the physics this time around. The only problem I see is that it might turn out to be more 'arcady' than the first, i.e. when Gordon gets off the jeep and has a Serious Sam style encounter with the aliens and grunts, but I can deal with it. I'm really looking forward to it.

CS Source isn't going to hold my attention, but if they put it in Day of Defeat, I'd definately grab it.

From what ive played i wouldnt worry about it getting too arcadey, firstly most tech demo's tend to be shown off in 'headless chicken' play style rather than how a real gamer woudl play and on my experience you still have to play the game using the same sort of approach as HL1 demanded of the player, using your noggin and what not.

the only exception to this is the battled with the arachnoid characters who due to their sheer weight of numbers can cause some frantic moments, however the game still manages to avoid becoming a 'may-pole dance' shooter in the mould of Doom, Serious Sam, Duke 3D etc

Additionally the source engine is apparently capable of evolving with newer revisions of the Direct X graphics API, for example, in the past if a game was coded with the DX7 feature set, it would not have any of the new features/effects found in DX8/9. From recent press releases it has been claimed that Source will be able to integrate these new graphical features into itself (presumably the code will be updated and rolled out through steam), as such, the engine will get a free graphical overhaul every time new technology is released (DirectX10 was the example given), leading me to the assumption that, if carried out to its logical conclusion, the game could possibly never 'age' in terms of graphical wualities, as it will simply evolve with the technology
