ATI RADEON 8500 05-12-2004, 04:28 AM What would happen if you shave your facial hair aganist the friction? I mean shaving from the bottom to the top. Would it mess up the way hair grows? werz 05-12-2004, 04:45 AM you obviously need a hobby zybch 05-12-2004, 05:15 AM First of all, you get a closer shave. Second, it doesn't hurt as much if you dry-shave for some reason. Third, I really doubt that there are any negatives. Probably just like farmers doing something a particular way coz 'thats the way its always ben done', even if a better way exists. Just to see I'll shave upwards next time and keep everyone posted :) Torlok2002 05-12-2004, 07:32 AM OMG! Dont do it... I shaved against the growth and it caused my entire face to fall off! HAHAAAAAAAAA *falls into lump on floor as all of my blood drains from my face...* alivin 05-12-2004, 07:34 AM If I shaved in any direction, my wife said she'd leave me ! I stopped shaving when I left the RAF in 1984 and have only shaved twice since then(both for halloween drag costumes :)) I trim my beard every 2 weeks Sun 05-12-2004, 08:10 AM ok i can't help it anymore.... if you do that you would definitely have a nice clean face.....not necessarily beautiful. daverme 05-12-2004, 10:17 AM You would get a closer shave. I did it all the time, when I shaved. The last time was in 1988.. rsfnatik 05-12-2004, 10:39 AM You'll get a closer shave but watch out for in-grown hairs - ouch! I only shave in the direction of growth. mireland 05-12-2004, 10:50 AM well, after the fact you'll get shaving bumps and it will hurt like a SOB..but you'll have a nice clean face(untill the red bumps appear) Billforce 05-12-2004, 02:07 PM Depends entirely on what type of instrument you shave with. With my electric razor, I HAVE to shave against the grain otherwise it does nothing. A barbers straight razor is normally used with the grain because it is really SHARP. bassman 05-12-2004, 02:11 PM I can only do that after I shaved downwards - but I'still notice the beard if I don't shave upwards... ATI RADEON 8500 05-12-2004, 03:18 PM Aight thank you guys! I was shaving downward since I had facial hair. Until yesterday I was wodering what would happen so I shaved upward in a small part and it was really smooth. I was susprised but did't want to contiue before being aware of the side effect.:t Baddog 05-12-2004, 03:40 PM The only Razor that can shave Anything and not cut or chaf. http://us.st8.yimg.com/store4.yimg.com/I/buyinprivate_1787_21005540 http://shop.store.yahoo.com/buyinprivate/gilmac3razwi.html :D :t Tango_6 05-12-2004, 04:58 PM Check out this razor. :t http://images.somethingawful.com/inserts/articlepics/photoshop/05-07-04-products/LogisticEarth.jpg themac 05-12-2004, 05:28 PM closer shave, don't know about with a standard razor but i have no problems like razor bumps or anything using an electric. Cyan 05-12-2004, 05:46 PM I do it all the time when I shave, helps cut down the time between shaves (I shave about every 2 months - I grow a beard that I trim, and I shave every now n' then to 'equall' it out) First shave with the grain, always, also I suggest you shave after showering, or in the middle of a shower (so your pores open), you'll also want to use shaving lotion/gel/foam (whatever) - all these things will help you not regret the experience. themac 05-12-2004, 10:16 PM Originally posted by Cyan I do it all the time when I shave, helps cut down the time between shaves (I shave about every 2 months - I grow a beard that I trim, and I shave every now n' then to 'equall' it out) First shave with the grain, always, also I suggest you shave after showering, or in the middle of a shower (so your pores open), you'll also want to use shaving lotion/gel/foam (whatever) - all these things will help you not regret the experience. ick i can't stand lotion or anything like that, i really hate beauty products, they make me feel oily, greasy, and uncomfortable. sm8000 05-13-2004, 01:25 AM If I shaved, I would easily look seven or eight years younger. I'm such a babyface, nobody believes I'm 25 when I'm clean-shaven. I used to like Gillette, but now I've switched to Schick and I like it better. When I shave my face against the grain, I do it in the shower, which helps a lot. zybch 05-13-2004, 04:50 AM Well, I shaved the 'wrong' way and am very pleased with the results. None of the side effects, just a closer smoother shave. ukulele 05-13-2004, 07:23 PM Finally a topic that makes sense in this forum. :p ATI RADEON 8500 05-14-2004, 12:47 AM http://www.planetsmilies.com/smilies/indifferent/indifferent02.gif Was that msg targeted at me or in general ukulele? mireland 05-14-2004, 12:48 AM I bet, given enough time, we could turn this into a political thread..:D werz 05-14-2004, 01:05 AM The best shave was always after a hard night partying , the next morning on the way home I would stop at a turkish baths and steam all the alcohol out of my system, and the aches and pains of excess and the have a shave after your pores have been opened and all the grime and tobacco and whatever are cleaned out,you never get such a close shave, then a massage and you feel like a million dollars again. sm8000 05-14-2004, 01:07 AM Now THAT'S something I gotta try! ukulele 05-14-2004, 03:20 AM Originally posted by ATI RADEON 8500 http://www.planetsmilies.com/smilies/indifferent/indifferent02.gif Was that msg targeted at me or in general ukulele? Nothing personal at all. Yes, I am getting bored with this whole place in general. It used to be a lot of fun, but lately I'm getting very cynical. Time to move on. :t porsch1909 05-15-2004, 11:12 AM am i the only person in the world who has never had a shave only going wth the growth! lol. i have alway shaved against the grain otherwise i dont have a nice shave lol. the mach 3 turbo is made specifically for against the grain shaving urdvurk 05-17-2004, 10:10 AM I always shave against the growth because the result won't be very smooth otherwise. I do like to go at least three days between shaves though (and preferably more like a week) because it makes shaving easy and painless. If I shave again the next day my whole face becomes an irritated painful mess. And bloody too, most of the time. Originally posted by mireland I bet, given enough time, we could turn this into a political thread. Sure thing. I wonder which way George Dubya shaves? :D porsch1909 05-17-2004, 10:39 AM Probably gets daddy to help: "Daddy if you help me shave ill finish your job in Iraq." mireland 05-17-2004, 10:46 AM Originally posted by porsch1909 Probably gets daddy to help: "Daddy if you help me shave ill finish your job in Iraq." http://www.fancysplace.com/smileys/lol3.gif bush sucks.. porsch1909 05-17-2004, 10:48 AM the day they find the WMDs then i will support bush and blair. see it has turned into a political chatroom urdvurk 05-17-2004, 11:53 AM :D :D :D I can't believe that actually worked. tantone 05-17-2004, 12:31 PM Back in boot camp we had to shave against the grain down to the neckline of a crewneck t-shirt. They'd use your ID card to test; they scrape the edge along your face and if it makes that rough, coarse, grating sound against any hair, you had to go back and re-shave. Getting your neck used to that kind of irritation is kinda painful. Anyway, shaving against the grain on my face is no problem. You go with the grain fist, then go back over it against the grain. Works for a REALLY smooth shave. tantone 05-17-2004, 12:32 PM bush sucks.. ...but apparently he doesn't shave. SysOpt.com
