Eh, the American public is so easily swayed by whats shown in the news it almost sickens me.

Especially when whats on the news seems dictated by whatever government is in power at the time.

It looks like even Fox can't hide Dubya's ineptitude any more.

It looks like G.W is gonna have to start another war and get his face on the TV a week before your next elections telling you thats is been won, to get popular again and be re-elected, lets hope we're all a bit wiser then.

I'm sure all my friends protesting on a daily basis would tend to disagree with you....I guess a lot of people are easily swayed by what's shown in the news about how unified the US is on the War, etc. ;)

Hey, maybe he'll attack Australia! Then we could make kangaroos and koalas pose in lewd and sexually humiliating ways while we take pictures. "Dude, that one's got a tiny pouch!"

The scenery would be a lot better for us, that's for sure.

------------------------

Zybch is swayed to the opposite of anything the US media says as much as he thinks the "American public" is towards it. Poor soul.

Mistrusting everything the media broadcasts is just as dumb as trusting it.

Hey zyby, why does the current administration want the prison abuse stories in the news? Help me out here. I'm really trying to make sense out of anything you say.

Uke, you'll embarrass zybch if you succeed, since even he can't make sense out of what he writes.

Does that go both ways. When Bush's aproval goes up becasue of what is in the news are you still so pissed?

Johnny Fist

To an extent yes. Putting political issues aside, it just bothers me that the majority of the people seem to just believe whatever they're told on TV.

This week everyone dislikes Bush because thats whats on TV. When anti-Bush news reports become the norm then the media will attampt to be cutting edge and start broadcasting pro-Bush reports. The rest of the media follows suit trying to keep their ratings up and the American public is back behind Bush again.

Its an endless cycle like that and it disgusts me.

Fox news is a 100% pro bush, almost state run news. And the majority of Americans watch fox news...what do u have to that.

Free choice. Now what's wrong with that? There is plenty of liberal views out there too. Here we get to watch what we want.

BTW....Fox news is amoung the most liberal of the big news mouthpieces in America.

People will make decisions based on the information they have. If they're lemmings and don't look to multiple sources for accurate information, then they'll believe what they're told.

Johnny Fist

And thats exactly the problem. Most people don't look to multiple sources.

Thats already done in some remote rural townships.
You wouldn't want to hear what they do to americans there! Hot tar and rubber bands would probably be involved.

The current administration didn't want the prison stuff aired any more than the GIs involved did. The stories were broken by foreign media first (ever wondered where 60 mins got the pics from). After that the US media had no choice but to run the stories and try to limit the damage, no doubt they were all pressured to try to put somewhat of a positive spin (or rather not 100% negative) on the whole thing.

Dont an Aussie own Fox?
He must be just like there Prime Minister who supports GWB and hangs on to him like a Koala on a gum tree, and sleeping most of the time.

zybch

I'm not sure if he's aussie any more. I'm not sure you can own a US network if you're not american.
John Howard, my PM sucks up to rupert like there's no tomorrow, in exchange for the softening of media ownership laws and other pro media stuff passed by the curreny govt, rupert keeps his networks here pro govt. Just the same as in the US where it's not usual to hear a disenting voice from the fox juggernaught.

Better retreat and regroup. According to recent polls GWB is actually gaining despite the negative press.:p

Either way, he'll be going up and down just like everyone else till he produces Osama 3 weeks before the US goes to vote.

Probably true. Even if they do represent a representitive sample of america they can still be skewed one way or the other by the questions and the way that they're asked.
