I am building a PC from scratch and so far have received everything but the CPU and the RAM (but they're on their way.) Well, the power supply seems to be dead. I do have the motherboard plugged into the ON button on the case. There is absolutly NO life in the power supply. Fan won't whiz, no click, no blinking lights on the case. Is my power supply dead? Should I send it back? Do I need RAM and CPU installed to have it do anything?

I thank you for any help in advance.

Wait for your cpu and ram.. If you put it together right it will work.....

Also, check the voltage selector of your power supply. Make sure it's set correctly.

The ATX power supply will not turn on without the CPU in place. The power button is not a switch like it is on an AT power supply, it actually requires a signal through the CPU to turn on.
