Hey kids,
I was going through all the useless services in WinXP Pro and disabling as many as possible to streamline my aging machine....I came across a few that I don't think I need, but oddly I can't get the things to die.
Remote Access Connection Manager - I can't kill it. I get a message saying the service couldn't be stopped, but that no errors were reported. Contact Bill if the problem persists...
Telephony - hangs when I try to stop it, presumably because it has to stop Remote Access Connection Manager first...
Terminal Services - this one gives me the cold shoulder: I don't even get the option to stop/start/pause it! ...Though I can change the start up type, so I set it to Manual (I'm going to reboot in a minute here and see what happens. On a related note, this may be the last you hear from me.....:D )
Does anyone have any idea what's up with these services? Or maybe I should ask if I should be messing with these....on that note, I do have two WinXP machines networked through a router, to a cable modem. One is a webserver, the other one is just loud and dusty but checks e-mail.
Thanks!
