Problem: "while initializing device VK"

while OCing my system,I got this message while booting win98. I returned my settings to the processor default, and rebooted, but i get the same message. won't load Safe mode, or Command prompt, but loads Safe mode, command prompt only.

Whenever people push the design limits of the CPU beyond what it's suppose to be, strange things can happen. Unless someone has a different idea, sounds like you have ruined either the CPU or motherboard.

Have you reloaded the OS? You can damage software files when a cpu/board cant handle the load.

I my sound a bit insensitive here. But some these people who overclock their systems and wonder why its performing so erratically makes me bite down on the bullet.

got it working. seems to have been a bad sector created by pushing my CPU a bit too far. replaced the file that was damaged and booted fine.
