I've gotten drug into a friends computer problem. Her Dell was upgraded to W95b by her brother. Now the SCSI CD rom doesn't work. It has a SCSI harddrive also. When I go into Device Manager, I have Yellow ! by
the Adaptec SCSI controller, the Creative Labs IDE controller, the Primary and Secondary IDE controller. None of them show conflicts. Why do I need IDE controllers when I don't have an IDE drive? On boot-up, the screen recognizes the two SCSI drives.

If there are no IDE devices, go into the system Bios setup and choose none (disable) for all IDE device settings. Disable the Primary/Secondary controller.

If there is an option to boot from a SCSI device select that.

Enter the SCSI Bios settings and use the ID utility to scan for the CD-Rom. Make sure it is identified. Ask her bother if he changed any settings in there.

If nothing is on the Creative IDE connection disable that also.

Reinstall the Adaptec's drivers and software.

Update Adaptec's Bios if need be.
