I offered to install a new mobo and CPU for a friend. Since I work on and have built many PCs I figured this to be an easy task. I got everything installed into the new case, double checked the jumper settings and made sure all the wires were pinned in the right spot. I plug it in and hit the power switch and nothing. The power supply doesn't even give a courtesy spin to acknowledge it's working, nothing. The one thing I am not sure about is DDR memory. I bought 1 256MB DIMM, do both modules need to have something in them? I figured I should at least get power and a memory error. This is a PC-Chips M952 P4 with a 256MB PC-3200 DIMM. I haven't tried taking the board out and trying to short it to see if I can start it, that would be a last resort. Any insight would be greatly appreciated.

Did you turn the switch on on the back of the power supply or turn the switch off moving it around?

I wish it were that simple. I have tried everything, I think. I guess I am going to go dump another $60 on another 256MB of DDR 400 and see if that's the problem. I just don't understand why I am getting no signs of power what so ever. Brand new case and power as well.

Does the power supply work by itself. Wondering if maybe it got shorted somewhere in the MB swap. At least that would tell you if its power or something on/with the MB.

Board Specs?

Tried removing the board from the tower and placing it on a piece of cardboard then only install the basic components. (No Sound Card, Modem, Etc.) Just the memory, cpu, power, and graphics card. Also have you tried changing the order and slot arrangement of your RAM in the motherboard?

If the board is made by Asus that company has problems with Crucial and Cosair memory modules. Just a heads up.
